Alchemy synthesis

All the powers of the French Academy of Sciences were needed chemical analysis, mechanical analysis, thermodynamics, alchemy, synthesis. But even Berthelot could not really provide much insight. The Laws of Rubber Elasticity were established by Joule, but even the wizards of British physics could not conjure up an explanation. Until the dawning of the molecular age, no real progress was likely on this subject. 

This poem is a synthesis of two other poems from the "Odyssey of Heart" written by Durand von Meissen. "Visions" speaks to the desire for spiritual truth as a heroic quest for enlightenment through "confrontation with the divine and demonic in the heart". The magical synthesis that was created in the sixteenth century included Kabalah, Hermeticism, magic, and alchemy. The next chapter looks at what alchemists were doing during the centuries that led up to this period. 

During this period, however, occultism did not die out. Instead, a great synthesis occurred in which magic, alchemy, Hermeticism, and Kabalah were united into one occult system. This synthesis often attempted to include science in the mix as well. At this time occultists tended to gather in secretive societies where members could rise in rank as they learned more about their system.

On account of this complex situation, the outcome of asymmetric synthesis with organometallics is at the moment poorly understood and often the state of the art is to be regarded as being more like alchemy rather than rational chemistry.
