Agrichemicals Fertilizers and Pesticides

Pesticides, including insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and rodenticides, are used to protect crops from pests, significantly reducing the losses to pests and improving the yields of crops such as corn, maize, vegetables, potatoes and cotton. An indisputable fact is that there has been a continuous increase in pesticide usage, both in number of chemicals and quantities, sinee the invention of pesticides. It was reported that pesticide consumption worldwide has increased from 850 million in 1960 to about 31 billion in 2005.
