Agnes Smith

Isobel Agnes Smith36 was the stalwart of Dundee, just as Ettie Steele was the backbone of St. Andrews Chemistry Department. Born in 1897, daughter of Robert Graham Smith, [Pg.274]

Smith was appointed Assistant Lecturer in 1928 and was promoted to Lecturer in 1937. She co-authored 13 research papers over the period from 1922 to 1943, all on optical activity of organic compounds. She held the rank of Senior Lecturer at the time of her retirement in 1961. [Pg.275]

It was the organic chemist Alexander McKenzie,30 Professor of Chemistry, who attracted a significant number of women chemistry researchers.
