Agarose film

The location of inter-residue cyclic acetals has been determined following the oxidation by periodate ion of heteropolysaccharides. These acetals protected hydroxy-groups during methylation analysis. Helix-helix aggregations and intermolecular associations through double helices have been demonstrated by vacuum-u.v.-circular dichroism spectra of agarose films.

An aliquot of 4 ul was applied to an agarose film strip equilibrated in the same buffer. Electrophoresis was done at 4 for 2 hours with 50 volts direct current. The agarose film was then cut into 2 mm strips (width-wise) which were then placed into the usual assay mixture and incubated for 2 hours at 37. ... 

Insulin is commonly used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. In the study carried out by Adresi and Yalcin [127] glutaraldehyde crosslinked agarose films were developed and examined as an insulin carrier. Swelling ratios and surface properties of agarose films were investigated for the characterization of the carrier materials.
