Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans, and is inactive against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli at a concentration of 20 pg/ml. 

Isojacareubin, which was found for the first time in H. japonicum, exhibited antimicrobial activity together with a new isopentenylated flavonol, salothra-nol. The antimicrobial test was carried out by the agar-well method using Staphylococus aureus. The compounds were examined as a 50% DMSO solution. The activity was expressed by the inhibitory diameter, which was measured after incubation for 18 h at 37 °C. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of isojacareubin and salothranol were 125 xg/mL [77].
