Small tow carbon fiber. Those below 24K are aerospace grade Small tow carbon fibers (1K equals to 1000 monofilament). [Pg.96]

Gardiner, G., Aerospace-grade, compression molding . High Performance Composites, July, 34-40, 2010. [Pg.241]

The titanium alloy used in this work was Ti-6A1-4V which is a commonly used aerospace grade. Bi-linear approximations to the stress-strain characteristics... [Pg.121]

Kevlar 49 is an aramid fibre made by du Pont, T300 carbon fibre is made by Toray and ASl and AS4 carbon fibres by Hercules. XA-S is a Courtaulds carbon fibre, and E-glass cloth, 50 v/o, was also used. The epoxies are a variety of aerospace grades F155 (Hexcel) PR286 (3M) 5208 (Narmco) 3501-6, 3502 (Hercules) 914 (Ciba Geigy) 934 (Fiberite). APCl and APC2 are based on carbon fibres in a PEEK matrix (ICI). [Pg.148]

Either process lends itself to the use of a significant variety of aluminium foils. For example, the HexWeb (originally Aeroweb) range of honeycombs uses 3003, 5052 and 5056 alloys - the aerospace grades having a corrosion-resistant treatment (for example, HexWeb CR-PAA/CRIII 5052). The expanded process is also particularly suited to a variety of non-metallic foil materials. [Pg.251]

The aviation industries call most the aerospace-grade non-OEM parts Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) parts. PMA is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) design-and-production approval. It is a governmental certification system that marks a part that meets FAA regulatory performance requirements. A PMA part is an FAA-certificated part that satisfies FAA safety regulations and the fabrication inspection system. Many PMA parts are reinvented using reverse engineering. [Pg.246]
