Adsorbate-substrate interaction vibrations complex

One of the most relevant evidences of a relatively significant interaction between the macrocycle complex and the metal surface is the appearance of a vibrational band. This kind of metal-ligand bands is better observed in the Raman spectrum below 500cm . Bands corresponding to the adsorbate-substrate interaction were observed in azabipiridyl, phthalocyanines, naphthalocyanines and... [Pg.780]

Laser-induced reaction has been widely used to stimulate gas-surface interaction. Lasers are also used to probe molecular dynamics in heterogeneous systems as well. In the applied area, the laser photochemical techniques are successfully applied to produce well defined microstructures and new materials for microelectronic devices (1). Enhanced adsorption and chemical reaction on surfaces can be achieved by a photoexcitation of gaseous molecules, adsorbed species as well as solid substrates. The modes of the excitation include vibrational and electronic states of the gaseous species and of the adsorbates surface complexes. Both a single and a multiple photon absorption may be involved in the excitation process. [Pg.329]

Chemisorption represents the formation of a surface chemical bond, which is either covalent (sharing of electrons) or ionic (electron transfer). The understanding of chemisorption phenomena is rather complex and requires knowledge on the geometrical structure of the system, adsorbate binding and charge transfer, the electronic structure of adsorbate and substrate, as well as vibrational frequencies [63]. Three dominant types of interactions may occur between chemisorbed species dipole-dipole (direct and screened by the electrolyte), electron-electron (indirectvia substrate electrons or direct at short distances), and elastic (via substrate ions) [31, 32, 65, 66]. [Pg.386]
