Acceptance and Induction

The arrival of the acceptance letter is the high point of the recruitment process. It is the successful conclusion to what is a long and difficult process for all concerned. However, it is not the end of a Manager s activities. A plan should be made for the arrival of the new recruit. [Pg.36]

Detailed discussions between the Manager with the person who is going to be the recruits immediate supervisor or mentor should be carried out and an initial work plan agreed. Outline details of this work plan may then be communicated to the recruit, especially a postgraduate, who will then be in a position to make a confident start in the new position. A note is put in the diary of the start date so that the Manager is available to welcome the new addition into the company and to address any immediate concerns. Introductions to members of the group in which the new recruit will be working should be made personally. [Pg.36]
