Eric Scerri is currently a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA. This was on the question of the reduction of chemistry to quantum mechanics. For the past ten years Scerri has been a leading pioneer in the efforts to establish the philosophy of chemistry as a new academic discipKne. His contributions have included the foundation and editorship of the journal Foundations of Chemistry as well as the publication of about 90 articles in journals and edited collections. Dr. Bidlack received his bachelor of science degree in dairy science and technology from the Pennsylvania State University (1966), his master of science degree from Iowa State University (1968), and his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, Davis (1972). In addition, he was a postdoctoral fellow in pharmacology at use School of Medicine (1972-1974). He received his academic appointment at the University of Sonthem California (1974), served as assistant dean of medical student affairs (1988-1991), and served as professor and interim chair of pharmacology and nutrition (1992). Dr. Bidlack has also served as chairman and professor of food science and hnman nntrition, and as director of the Center for Designing Foods to Improve Nntrition at Iowa State University in Ames, from 1992 to 1995. [Pg.227]
