Absorber columns

A large portion of the can be released from the reprocessing faciHty as CO2. Thus a recovery process has been developed using an alkaline absorbent column (37).

Emergency Scrubbers (Absorbers) Emergency relief effluent streams are often sent to scrubbers (also called absorbers, columns, or towers) for final disposal by absorption of the gas into a solvent. Some gases or vapors can be removed by physical absorption. Other gases or vapors can be removed by chemical absorption (reaction of the vent gas/vapor into a liquid that reacts with it). 

On the day of the incident, a pump that supplied hot lean oil to a large heat exchanger on the absorber column tripped. A chart recorder that should have indicated the upset was out of ink. The temperature in the exchanger dropped because of cold condensate flowing through the tubes. Air samples for airborne portions may be taken with high volume air samples 0.67-0.85 m3 (20-30 ft /min.) through a glass fiber filter backed up with a resin type (Rohm and Haas XAD) absorbing column or liquid bubbler for gas phase trapping where desired. Any type application may be monitored downwind with these type of collectors at ground level, or vertical tower collection can be provided for Impacted drops or for those drawn into air samplers.

The absorbers column should be attached to the glove box by the appropriate pipes, valves and blowing system. It should include a regeneration capability. 

It is possible to remove nitrogen and organic solvents as well, using appropriate absorbing columns. This system includes the appropriate sensors and regeneration cycles. 

In this equation, Mvoc is the mass flow rate (kilograms per unit time) of the volatile organic compound in the reactor, and it is taken as the average mass flow rate through the reactor. The apparatus essentially consists of a long narrow glass tube about 20-30 cm long and 2-3 cm in diameter. This can hold 60-70 g of absorbent. The absorbent column is supported on a plug of glass wool. If the tube is wider, a perforated disc covered by a pad of cotton is often used. The tube is provided with a tap at the bottom. The removal of the column from the tube is a simple process. 

A packed gas-absorber column is installed in a sulfuric acid plant to control sulfur dioxide (S02) emissions. The absorber unit consists of the column, packing, ductwork, fan, and solvent feed pump. Pertinent input data are as follows ... 

Some of the remaining studies did not necessarily observe incomplete catalyst wetting, but included this concept either directly as an adjustable parameter in the model to fit the observed conversion versus liquid mass velocity data,(7,9,13, 16-18), or indirectly via use of a correlation for liquid-solid contacting established for non-porous absorber column packings (11,19-20).

In the gas phase the (napierian) absorbance At is proportional to the partial pressure p of the absorbing species at a specified reference temperature (usually T=298 K) and to the pathlength I of the radiation absorbing column (Eq. 3-6). 

A dynamic flow method was used to determine the rate of pheromone release from the various matrices. A vacuum manifold was constructed for multi-sample analysis.
