A Simple Experiment to Demonstrate the Greenhouse Effect

When I came to people, then I found them resting on an old infatuation all of them thought they had long known what was good and bad for people. 

And old wearisome business seemed to them all discourse about virtue and he who wished to sleep well spoke of good and bad before retiring to rest. 

This somnolence did I disturb when 1 taught that no one yet knows what is good and bad — unless it be the creating one  

Two 250-mL beakers, two brass discs 0.5 mm thick and 63 mm in diameter, lamp with shade and 100 W bulb, coaxial Ni/CrNi thermocouple connected to both beakers, thermometer, glass plate, gas inlet tube, safety glasses, protective gloves. 

CO2 from a pressure cylinder, 250 mL of a 10 % NaOH solution which contains about 2.5 g K2S2O8.
