A mouse bioassay for the detection of adjuvant effect

So far, phthalates and their metabolites are the only plasticizer types for which studies of adjuvant activity have been pubhshed. Adjuvant effects were seen on the IgE and IgGl [Pg.534]

Compound CAS Length of alkyl side chain Concentrations giving rise to adjuvant effect pg/mL Adjuvant potential Concentrations giving rise to immunosuppression flg/mL [Pg.535]

D BP Di-n-butyl phthalate, MnBP Mono-n-hutyl phthalate, BBP Benzyl butyl phthalate, MBnP Monobenzyl phthalate, DEHP Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, MEHP Mono-2-ethylhexyl phthalate, DnOP Di-n-octyl phthalate, MnOP Mono-n-octyl phthalate, DiNP Di-iso-nonyl phthalate, MiNP Mono-iso-nonyl phthalate, DiDP Di-iso-deeyl phthalate, MiDP Mono-iso-decyl phthalate expressed as the number of carbon atoms in the alkyl side ehain [Pg.535]

Not observed with a maximum test eoneentration of 1000 tg/mL for monophthalates and 2000 lig/mL for phthalates [Pg.535]

Immunosuppressive effects were apparent from the monophthalate metabolites MEHP, M OP, MiNP and MiDP but not from MnBP and MBnP within the tested concentration interval (cf. Table 17.1.1). For these substances, there was an increase in the immunosuppressive properties with increasing length of the alkyl side chain. Furthermore, substances, which are immunosuppressive at relatively high doses may possess adjuvant effect at lower doses. [Pg.535]
