A Matter of Perspective

Amorphous solids resemble liquids in that their molecules are not organized in regular arrays. In fact, there is no clear distinction between amorphous solids and very viscous liquids. When asphalt gets hot, it becomes sticky and eventually melts, but whether sticky asphalt is a soft solid or a highly viscous liquid is a matter of perspective.

Tasks are allocated away from the users rather than to the users. This is not simply a matter of perspective but rather is fundamental to a human-centered approach. That is, the user is assumed to be performing a high-level task. Lower-level tasks that are better performed by the computer are allocated from the user to the computer. This approach is opposed to the one that considers the computer as the high-level task performer and allocates to the user lower-level tasks that the machine cannot do well. 

There were a couple of things that got said in those corporate videos that I was describing, where there were snickers from the audience. Not big ones but small ones, where somebody said, "I think this company s just a wonderful dadadadada," and some disenfranchised, disgruntled person went, "Yeah, right. That ain t true." Now, was it untrue Was it a matter of perspective Was it a lie That is a difficult line for me. 

A System is an interconnection, an organisation of objects that is embedded in a given environment (Karcanias, 2003). The system is the snm of all constituent parts working together within a given environment to achieve a given purpose within a given time period.
