The remainder of Unit i joined the depot team on Morotai on ii October, by which time the operation had been declared over and the work of building an air base was well under way. The unit continued operation of the CWS dump, put up warehouses with space for maintenance operations, and did a brisk business in picking up and reconditioning gas masks. The unit remained in place on Morotai, attached to the 31st Division, until the last week in January 1945, when it joined the 33d Division and embarked for Luzon.  

By that time the 240th Chemical Composite Company had long ceased to be a unit in any operational sense. Its four segments were
