7V-Methylacetamide

Several studies have employed Escherichia coli, some strains of which appear to be particularly active in their ability to cause P—C bond fission, and through the use of one of these, a metabolite from ethylphosphonic acid was shown to be a-l-(ethylhydroxyphos-phinoyl)ribose (aminomethyl)phosphonic acid and its 7V-methyl, 7V,A -dimethyl and N-acetyl derivatives are converted into A -methylacetamide, A, A -dimethylacetamide, trimethylamine and 7V-methylacetamide, respectively. ... [Pg.511]

V-Methylacetamide [79-16-3] M 73.1, m 30°, b 70-71°/2.5-3mm, pK -3.70, pKf-0.42. Fractionally distil it under vacuum, then fractionally crystallise it twice from its melt. Likely impurities include acetic acid, methyl amine and H2O. For a detailed purification procedure, see Knecht and Kolthoff, Inorg Chem 1 195 1962. Although V-methylacetamide is commercially available it is often extensively contaminated with acetic acid, methylamine, water and an unidentified impurity. The recommended procedme is to synthesise it in the laboratory by direct reaction. The gaseous amine is passed into hot glacial acetic acid, to give a partially... [Pg.181]

Warshel, Levitt, and Lifson derived a partially optimised consistent force field for amides and lactams (25). It is composed of an alkane part and an amide-part. The former was taken over from analogous earlier calculations for saturated hydrocarbons (17). The potential constants of the amide-part were optimised with the help of a large number of experimental frequencies (taken from TV-methylform amide, acetamide, iV-methylacetamide, and several deuterated species) as well as experimental geometry data for 7V-methylacet-amide. The resulting force field was used for the calculation of vibrational and conformational properties of 2-pyrrolidone, 2-piperidone and e-caprolactam. [Pg.199]
