Since the period covered by the last review there has been a great increase in the number of papers describing the, 3C NMR spectra of alkaloids, and an excellent introduction to this area of research is available. (2) The books by Stothers (3) and by Levy and Nelson (4) on 13C NMR spectroscopy are invaluable and are quoted in the majority of papers concerned with the 13C NMR spectra of alkaloids.
