Zolmitriptan dosage

Although the information is limited, it shows that no sumatriptan or zolmitriptan dosage adjustments are expected to be needed if used with pizotifen. On the basis of the information on sumatriptan and zolmitriptan it seems unlikely that any of the other triptans will interact. 

Naratriptan is also dosed at 2.5 mg. Maximum dosage is 5 mg/d. Relief is achieved in 4 hours in 65% of the patients. The rate of reeurrence, an estimated 27%, is similar to that for sumatriptan and zolmitriptan. Frovatriptan is also dosed at 2.5 mg. Relief is achieved in 2 hours in 42% of the patients. Eletriptan is dosed at 40 mg with a maximum dosage at 80 mg. Headache response is achieved in 2 hours in 60% of the patients. Recurence rate is estimated at about 20%. Rizatriptan is dosed at 5 mg with a maximum dosage at 10 mg. Headache response is achieved in 2 hours in 62% of the patients. Recurence rate is estimated at about 39%. 

Colored ion-pair complexes were found useful for extractive spectrophotometric assays of a number of analytes oseltamivir [20], nortriptyline hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulations [21], zolmitriptan in tablets [22], finasteride in tablets [23], and dosage forms of amoxycillin and flucloxacillin [24]. In all cases, the chromoge-nic reagent and analyte formed ion-pairs that obeyed Beer s law and were suitable for quantitative determinations.

In a double-blind, randomised, crossover study, 12 healthy subjects were given propranolol 160 mg or a placebo daily for 7 days, with a single 10-mg oral dose of zolmitriptan on day 7. The propranolol increased the maximum serum levels and the AUC of the zolmitriptan by 56% and 37%, respectively, and reduced the extent of its conversion to its active metabolite, probably due to inhibition of, or competition for metabolism by, cytochrome P450 isoenzymes. However, it was concluded that no clinically important changes in the therapeutic effects of zolmitriptan are likely, nor are any adjustments in its dosage needed. ...
