An analysis of EPI usage by the leading reporting countries (those with more than one CER) yielded results set out in Table 7.9. 

Economics analysis The cost and benefit balance of analyzer system installation merits thorough consideration. The cost should include the initial cost of engineering, installation, personnel training, and the estimated cost of lifetime operation. The benefits should include the potential process improvement (such as better yield, less waste, safer operation, less pollution, etc.) resulting from analyzer usage. The cost and benefit balance should fall within the typical guidelines of the particular corporation (e.g., payback within 3 years).
