Y-Tomatine

The effects of a-, /8-, y-, and 5-azido-substituents on shifts have been evaluated from a series of azido-substituted steroids, and n.m.r. spectra have been assigned for some 5-methyl-19-nor-5/3-cholest-9(10)-enes ( West-phalen series) for the steroid alkaloids solasodine, solasonine, tomatine, and tomatidine, and for the oogoniols, which are shown to be 29-hydroxy-stigmastane derivatives (12) and not 26-hydroxystigmastanes as proposed originally. [Pg.259]

Silica gel G layers and ethyl acetate-pyridine-water (45 + 15 + 46) were used for the TLC of glycosidic steroid alkaloids y-solamarine hBf 52 solamargine 44 j5-solamarine 38 tomatine 20 a-solamarine 18 solasonine 17. [Pg.458]
