WSA feed Gas

The raw material for conventional sulfuric acidmaking is SO2 gas. The raw material for wet gas sulfuric acidmakmg is also SO2 gas—accompanied by H2O gas. It is mainly obtained by  [Pg.284]

WS A plant feed gas must have low dust-in-gas levels ( 0.001 g of dust per Nm of feed gas). Low fluorine levels ( 0.001 g of F per Nm of feed gas) are also important to minimize corrosion of glass equipment (Channon et al., 2011). These specifications are identical to those used for conventional sulfuric acid plants [Pg.285]

The upshot of this is that, in 2013, WSA feed gas must contain less than 6.5 volume% SO2. It means that 10-12 volume% SO2 gases produced by sulfur burning and flash smelting cannot be treated. Of course, these gases could be diluted with air, but this would significantly increase capital and operating costs. [Pg.292]
