White matter lipid structure

Cerebrosides (Gal-Cer) constitute the major lipid component of glial cells in the central nervous system [% of total lipid 10-25 cerebroside, 4 sulfatide (Fewster and Mead, 1968)]. 36% of the cerebroside present in brain white matter was attributed to extramyelin structures (O Brien and Sampson, 1965). [Pg.266]
