When Not To Call a Meeting

Interestingly, and perhaps this is the cause of meeting problems, there seem to be more reasons not to call a meeting than to call a meeting. Consider the following three reasons not to call a meeting (Walesh 2000b)  [Pg.136]

Your mind is made up but you want others to think you are seeking their input  [Pg.136]

While you know what needs to be done, you are reluetant to take full responsibility. Therefore, you call a meeting, indicate what should be done, obtain formal approval or informal acquiescence, and then you can spread the blame if needed while taking all the credit if the decision is correct. [Pg.136]

You don t know what needs to be done but you have the necessary responsibility and authority. However, you want somebody else to make the decision. [Pg.136]
