In an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) system, single-crystal surfaces of Pt(lOO) and Pt(l 10) are known tobe reconstructed as Pt(100)-(5 x 20) and Pt( 110)-( 1 X 2), respectively, but the Pt( 111) is believed not to be reconstructed. In electrochemical systems, Pt(l 11) and Pt(lOO) do not seem to be reconstructed up to the double-layer region by a positive potential limit as shown by LEED and by STM through CO adsorption. However, Rodes et al. claimed that the most carefully treated Pt(lOO) is [Pg.192]
