Volumetric Determination of Iodide by Andrews Titration

Since purest potassium iodate can be used as a primary standard, its solution can be used [Pg.122]

Dry the purest solid at 120°C for one hour and allow to cool in a desiccator. Weigh out accurately 5.35 g of the dried solid, dissolve in water in a beaker with stirring. Transfer quantitatively to a 1 dm volumetric flask and make up to the mark with water. [Pg.122]

The end-point is detected by adding an immiscible liquid (CHCI3 or CCI4) which extracts I2. ICI is not extracted and imparts a yellow colour to the aqueous phase. [Pg.122]
