Virgin polyvinyl chloride

VPVC-virgin polyvinyl chloride, WP+HDPE-wallpaper with high density polyethylene, WP- wallpaper only, WP+PVC-wallpaper with PVC. [Pg.280]

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) recycling has been much slower to catch up compared to other polymers. PVC is one of the harder polymers for collechon and sortahon. As PVC has density close to that of PET, it is hard to separate them, and the two polymers are incompahble as mixtures. However, once separated and cleaned, PVC can be ground and processed, just like virgin PVC. [Pg.374]

Commonly used thermoplastics such as PE, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polypropylene (PP) are less costly than fluoropolymers, e.g. polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), but do not perform as weU in high temperature conditions. They also include plasticisers, heat stabilisers and fire retardants that can leach out. PVDF in its virgin form is highly pure and does not contain additives. [Pg.402]

Post-consumer waste consists of six major polymers polystyrene (PS), low density polyethylene (LDPE), high density polyethylene (HOPE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). These polymers are incompatible and form separate phases on mixing. Fabricated products made directly from comingled plastics have poor physical properties, and can compete only with treated lumber at a price of roughly 20% of that for the virgin plastics. When freed of hidden and actual subsidies, this form of recycling is believed to have a negative economic value. [Pg.220]
