Other work that has looked into the performance of recovered black includes a Malaysian investigation [17] that evaluated the performance of the black in NR and nitrile rubber (NBR) formulations. The curing characteristics, physical properties and swelling index of the rubber compounds were investigated and compared with those of rubber compounds containing virgin black. In the case of the NBR compounds, blends of the recovered black with virgin black were also prepared and tested. [Pg.244]

The increase of use of fruits and vegetables, or the moderate use of foods rich in antioxidants (such as extra virgin olive oil, tea, wine, coffee, black chocolate, etc.) can substitute for the use of supplement once OS is under control,... [Pg.233]

Similar well fitting simulation curves for the experimental stress-strain data as those shown in Fig. 46b can also be obtained for higher filler concentrations and silica instead of carbon black. In most cases, the log-normal distribution Eq. (55) gives a better prediction for the first stretching cycle of the virgin samples than the distribution function Eq. (37). Nevertheless, adaptations of stress-strain curves of the pre-strained samples are excellent for both types of cluster size distributions, similar to Fig. 45c and Fig. 46b. The obtained material parameters of four variously filled S-SBR composites used for testing the model are summarized in Table 4, whereby both cluster... [Pg.73]

The intense black colour, high lustre and warm feel of jet were undoubtedly what made it such a sought-after material. Yet its undiminished attraction in the Middle Ages may well have been partly due to a continuing belief in its special powers. It was thought that it could drive out devils and dissolve spells and enchantments. When heated it could ward off serpents. Furthermore, if a potion of powdered jet and water was given to a lady and acted as a diuretic, it was taken as proof that she was not a virgin. [Pg.53]

When the glass with the Blackness has stood for 8 days and nights in a gentle fire, it is then removed from the fire. Then the Blackness is being moistened with the Virgin s Milk, drop by drop, and in such a manner, that the dryness continues to keep the upper hand. [Pg.61]

The samples of surface devulcanized reclaimed rubber made in this series of experiments were then compounded with a blend of virgin rubbers and cured. The blends were made by mixing 20 parts per 100 parts of rubber (phr) of the surface devulcanized reclaimed rubber samples with 70phr of Plioflex 1712 SBR, 30 phr of Budene 1254 polybutadiene rubber, about 9 phr of aromatic oil, about 70 phr of carbon black, about 2 phr of stearic acid, about 4 phr of wax, about 1 phr of accelerator, about 2 phr of zinc oxide, about 1.5 phr of sulfur, and about Iphr of antioxidant. The Plioflex 1712 has a bound styrene content of about 28.5% and was oil extended with about 37.5% of an... [Pg.2697]
