1-Vinylimidazole, complexes with osmium

Separationless immunoassays in whole blood present a number of challenges. Hydrogen peroxide, the substrate of the commonly used immunolabehng peroxidases, is eliminated by catalase and catalase-hke blood constituents, and proteins may quickly foul the sensors. Additionally, mass transport both to and within the sensors defines the time required for separationless immunoassays. The problems are alleviated in a redox hydrogel-based separationless immunoassay. Reactions of Os3(CO)n(NCMe) with imidazole, 1-vinylimidazole, or pyrazole result in the formation of the complexes Os3(CO)i i(L) 55,56,61, respectively. Thermolysis of these complexes results in loss of CO and the formation of complexes with the general formula Os3(H)(CO)io(/ -L) 57,58,59, 60,62,63. In the case of vinylimidazole and imidazole, the isomers are formed by the activation of the two C-H bonds adjacent to the nitrogen atom. In the case of pyrazole, the two isomers are formed by either C-H or N-H activation. The corresponding reactions of 1-vinylimidazole and imidazole with Ru3(CO)i2 in the presence of sodium diphenylketyl yields ruthenium compounds that are analogous to the osmium clustets. ...
