Vezin samplers

Commercial samplers are available that combine a traversing-type sampler and an unacceptable table sampler. An alternative design is the radial cutter or Vezin sampler. These samplers vary in size from a 15-cm laboratory unit to a 152-cm commercial unit.

Selection of hnear or radial (rotary cutter) samphng is made according to mechanical instahation factors often on a basis of flow quantity. Smaher flows can be sampled in a cost-effeciive manner by rotary cutter samplers (frequently termed vezin design samplers, see Fig. 19-4). 

I he gross sample can be reduced to a laboratory sample of about 10 g, using a Vezin type sampler for example, and finally to a measurement sample of about 1 g using a rotary riffler. If the particle size analysis is carried out on less than I g the final reduction is usually effected by dispersing the powder in a liquid and pipetting out the required aliquot.
