The velocity profile and volumetric flow rate for steady, fully developed, laminar flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid in a pipe were derived in Chapter 1. Here, the results are summarized for reference. [Pg.85]

The velocity profile is related to the frictional pressure drop by equation 1.54 [Pg.85]

On substituting for vx in equation 1.62 using equation 1.54, and evaluating the integral, the volumetric flov rate is given by [Pg.85]

Note that the volumetric average velocity u is exactly half the maximum velocity. [Pg.86]
