Vanadium sulfate, analysis

Vanadyl sulfate may be analyzed by titration with a standard solution of potassium permanganate (See Vanadium Pentoxide, Analysis) or any suitable oxidizing agent. An aqueous solution may be analyzed for vanadium by AA or ICP (See Vanadium). [Pg.967]

Murthy and Ryan [823] used colloid flotation as a means of preconcentration prior to neutron activation analysis for arsenic, molybdenum, uranium, and vanadium. Hydrous iron (III) oxide is floated in the presence of sodium decyl sulfate with small nitrogen bubbles from 1 litre of seawater at pH 5.7. Recoveries of arsenic, molybdenum, and vanadium were better than 95%, whilst that of uranium was about 75%. [Pg.282]

P5C-6 The selective oxidation of toluene and methanol over vanadium pentoxide-sup-ported alkali metal sulfate catalysts was studied recently fAIOiEJ., 27(1), 41 (1981)]. Examine the experimental technique used (equipment, variables, etc.) in light of the mechanism proposed. Comment on the shortcomings of the analysis and compare with another study of this system presented in AZOiE J., 25(5), 855 (1982). [Pg.280]

ICP analysis showed the fines to be enriched In Iron and vanadium, but lean in sulfur, as sulfates, Porosimetry results showed the raesopores in the fines to be slgnifIcsntly enlarged, with radii ranging from about 30 to 200 Angstroms. However, raesopores in the extrudates before and after attrition were smaller and typical of the fresh catalyst, with radii ranging from about 30 to 100 Angstroms. [Pg.412]

In the inductively coupled argon plasma emission spectrometer method, nickel, iron, and vanadium content of gas oil samples in the range from 0.1 to 100 mg/kg. Thus a 10-g sample of gas oil is charred with sulfuric acid and subsequently combusted to leave the ash residue. The resulting sulfates are then converted to their corresponding chloride salts to ensure complete solubility. A barium internal standard is added to the sample before analysis. In addition, the use of the ICAP method for the analysis of nickel, vanadium, and iron present counteracts the two basic issues arising from metals analysis. The most serious issue is the fact that these metals are partly or totally in the form of volatile, chemically stable porphyrin complexes and extreme conditions are needed to destroy the complexes without losing the metal through volatilization of the complex. The... [Pg.235]
