Vanadium complexes, hydrogen peroxide determination

The sample is ignited and the ash dissolved in acids. Hydrogen peroxide is added and the solution passed down a cation exchange column. Vanadium, present as a pentavalent peroxide complex, passes unadsorbed down the column and is determined photo-absorptiometrically. Aluminium is removed from the column by elution with a more concentrated acid and determined by a complexometric titration.
