Valve unit round

Figures 6.3 and 6.4 show different types of valve trays and valve units. Valves can be round or rectangular, with or without a caging structure. A detailed description is available elsewhere (1), and in manufacturers literature (7-9). The valve disks rise as vapor rate is increased (Fig. 6.2c), The upper limit of opening is controlled by a caging structure or by restrictive legs at the bottom of the valve unit. As vapor rate falls, the disk openings are reduced, or they may settle intermittently over the holes. This stops the liquid from... The operational lifetime of the ejectors must be in the region of at least a billion or more cycles. Food processing is usually a 24-hom-a-day, all-year-round operation. Operators cannot afford to shut down a machine regularly for even a few minutes to replace faulty ejectors. Under these circiunstances, machine rehability and stability of operation are critical. For certain large or heavy objects a solenoid valve may be used to control a pneumatically operated flap or plunger to deflect rejected items. Specialised ejectors have been developed for pulps or slurries to remove rejects by suction and are mounted above a flat belt, downstream from the inspection unit. [Pg.132]

For spindle operated thermocompressors, shown in Figure 18-2(b), the nozzle design is quite different from that of fixed nozzle units. The nozzle and spindle assembly combines a rounded entrance orifice with a straight section into which a tapered spindle is guided. Operation is much like that of a needle valve. The length of the spindle travel is based upon the design requirements. [Pg.180]
