Utilisation characteristics of dredging equipment

This section presents a summary of utihsation characteristics for each type of equipment. In these tables the markings refer to the following codes  

The values of these characteristics must be considered as indicative and may dilfer from what can be achieved in practise. When special precautions are taken turbidity may be reduced, see section 4.3.4, this also applies to spillage. 

1 Large (jumbo-sized) trailing suction hopper dredgers may be able to dredge rock with a maximum unconfined compressive strength of approximately 5 MPa, although productions are modest.
