Urinary cAMP Excretion in Gouty Patients with and without Nephrolithiasis

Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Siena (Head Prof. A. Caniggia) [Pg.145]

The prevalence of nephrolithiasis in patients with primary gout is very high, ranging from 10 to 40%, except in Israel where 75% of gouty subjects are afflicted with renal calculi (1). [Pg.145]

Hyperuricosuria with increased urinary concentration of uric acid and undue low pH of urine are probably the main but not the only factors in the pathogenesis of nephrolithiasis in gouty patients (1). [Pg.145]

Calculi are frequently of pure uric acid but in some cases also of calcium oxalate or mixed. [Pg.145]

To investigate other possible metabolic factors we studied in blood and/or in 24/hours urine  [Pg.145]
