Ultraviolet-Visible-Near Infrared transmission

Optical Properties. The optical transmission of vitreous siUca is influenced by impurities and the forming process. Ultrapure vitreous siUca has the abihty to transmit from the deep ultraviolet, through the visible, and into the near-infrared spectral range. [Pg.507]

Ground-based infrared observations must be conducted in the wavelength regions where the earth s atmosphere is transparent to infrared radiation. These transmission bands generally define the common photometric bands used by infrared astronomers. Harold Johnson who also defined the ultraviolet, blue, visible (UBV) photometric system for visible wavelengths first defined the near infrared bands of J, K, and L. Table I gives the common infrared photometric bands in use today. Note that there are subtle differences in the exact definition of the bands. [Pg.142]

Spectroscopy. - In the following paragraphs we discuss how various spectroscopy tools have been used to illuminate the rich surface chemistry of supported polynuclear metal complexes. These methods include infrared (both diffuse reflectance and transmission), ultraviolet and visible (UV-Vis), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and x-ray absorption, near edge spectroscopy s (XANES) and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy s. [Pg.97]
