Ultrasonic digitizer

Parameters were recorded using two orthogonal supine and standing full spine X-rays a Barycentermetric gamma ray scanner an ultrasonic digitalizing tablet and the J. Hecquet s softwar Rachis 91 [23]. 

The data are transmitted from the front end processor to the computer in digital form over an ethemet link. The data consist of ultrasonic data, either raw RF A-scans or data processed by the digital signal processor in the PSP-4. In addition to the ultrasonic data, scanner coordinates are transmitted over the ethemet link. 

In order to test a wide range of materials a series of ultrasonic pulser/receiver boards has been developed. In combination with an ADC-board (analogue-to-digital converter) a PC can be converted to a high performance ultrasonic system not only for manual testing but also for automatic testing and imaging systems. 

The PS-4 ultrasonic examination system provides many new features, which allows the operator to perform several inspections simultaneously. Both pulse-echo and time-of-flight-diffraction technique can be applied together with storage of digital A-scan data at the same time.

Barium titanate has many important commercial apphcations. It has both ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties. Also, it has a very high dielectric constant (about 1,000 times that of water). The compound has five crystalline modifications, each of which is stable over a particular temperature range. Ceramic bodies of barium titanate find wide applications in dielectric amplifiers, magnetic amplifiers, and capacitors. These storage devices are used in digital calculators, radio and television sets, ultrasonic apparatus, crystal microphone and telephone, sonar equipment, and many other electronic devices. 

Many organizations rely heavily upon the use of a D-Meter. A D-Meter is a relatively inexpensive handheld digital display ultrasonic thickness gauge for determining the remaining thickness of vessel walls and piping. Ultrasonic wall-thickness measurements resemble radar or sonar in technique. A burst of ultrasound is emitted via a probe into a material and bounces off the rear wall. The time interval measured for this reflection to return is a measure of wall thickness. 

If the vessel is not insulated or does not have a liner, the wall thickness may be tested from either the outside or from within using a D-Meter. This tool can quickly and easily measure the thickness of piping or a vessel wall, D-Meters are generally the inspector s favorite tool. The name D-Meter is the technician s lingo for the simple handheld digital ultrasonic thickness meter. Often corrosion patterns on vessels and equipment are...
