The oxime, 34, is glycosylated by a UDPG-thiohydroximate glucosyltransferase, and subsequently sulfonated by sulfotransferase to yield a glucosinolate of the type Thus, aldoximes generated by initial oxygenation of amino acids are found to serve as substrates of a wide variety of plant enzymes that act directly at the hydroximino function. 

The tissue s capacity to conjugate salicylic acid Increased with time suggesting induction of glucosyltransferase activity in the tissue. A glucosyltransferase that transfers glucose from UDPG to the phenolic hydroxyl of salicylic acid was purified about 54-fold. 

We have established a new aspect in nucleotide sugar synthesis by the application of sucrose synthase (UDPG D-fructose 2 glucosyltransferase, EC 2.4.1.13) the use of sucrose as a renewable resource for nucleotide sugar synthesis [273].

The search for the corresponding enzyme vomilenine 21-O-p-D-glucosyltransferase was successful only when microsomal proteins were analyzed for the enzyme activity. The transferase reaction was dependent on active protein in the presence of substrate vomilenine and cosubstrate uridine diphosphate glucose (UDPG) (the orJy one accepted from several tested UDP monosaccharides). However, the transferase was far less specific for the nucleotide part of the cosubstrate. Enzyme activity was only detected in a Rauuolfia cell suspension which produces the glucoalkaloid rau-caffricine (30). Inhibition of this membrane-bound transferase might probably enhance ajmaline production in Rauuolfia which has, however, not yet been proven so far.
