Udder quarter foremilk

Finding a cow with mammary inflammation requires taking fast measures to cure the cow and avoid collecting milk from the sick udder quarters. Therefore, analyzing udder quarter foremilk has been presented (20) as the next step in the dairy management to guarantee the health of each cow and the production of high-quaUty milk.

It has been proposed that identification of cows with abnormal composite milk by NIRS should be followed by localizing the mammary inflammation and finding the udder quarter with mastitis. For that purpose, NIR spectra of composite and quarter foremilk, respectively, have been used to measure somatic cells and absolute electroconductivity. For further medical treatment, the main pathogen in quarter foremilk has been identified, again, by its NIR spectra.
