Typing monkey analogy

Figure 3.58. Typing Monkey Analogy. A monkey randomly poking a typewriter could write a line from Shakespeare s Hamlet, provided that correct keystrokes were retained. In the two computer simulations shovm, the cumulative number of keystrokes is given at the left of each line. Figure 3.58. Typing Monkey Analogy. Induction of chloracne in humans after exposure to dioxin and related compounds is supported by studies in laboratory animals. Rabbits, monkeys, and hairless mice have all proved useful in investigating this response. In addition, cellular systems provide a research tool in elucidating the chloracne response at the cellular level. Keratinocytes, the principal cell type in the epidermis, have been used as an in vitro model for studies of TCDD-induced hyperkeratosis, a feature of chloracne, in human- and animal-derived cell cultures. The response in these systems is analogous to the hyperkeratinization observed in vivo as a part of chloracne [181]. [Pg.121]

C. Phenvlalkvlamine Types. - The human pharmacology of mescaline, its congeners and phenylisopropylamine analogs was reviewed. 203 x comprehensive study on the acute toxlcitles of mescaline and its derivatives revealed that the dog was more sensitive than the rhesus monkey to the toxic effects of these conq>ounds. 20A Rats failed to differentiate 2,3,4-trimethoxyphenylethylamine, a non-psychotomimetic analog of mescaline, from mescaline Itself. 5... [Pg.31]
