The sensitivity of analyte detection by a chemical ionization (Cl) source is directly proportional to the concentration of analyte in favorable cases [8, 9]. Sensitivities have been reported of up to 5000 eounts per second (cps) per ppbv [7]. Sensitivities can also be enhanced by operating the APCI at elevated temperatures (up to 400 °C) and an increase in sensitivity for (CH3)2S of 2 x 10 has been reported by the temperature increase [10].
