The maximum bubble pressure method is good to a few tenths percent accuracy, does not depend on contact angle (except insofar as to whether the inner or outer radius of the tube is to be used), and requires only an approximate knowledge of the density of the liquid (if twin tubes are used), and the measurements can be made rapidly. The method is also amenable to remote operation and can be used to measure surface tensions of not easily accessible liquids such as molten metals [29]. [Pg.18]

Table 7.1 presents us with something of a dilemma. We would obviously desire to explore i much of the phase space as possible but this may be compromised by the need for a sma time step. One possible approach is to use a multiple time step method. The underlyir rationale is that certain interactions evolve more rapidly with rime than other interaction The twin-range method (Section 6.7.1) is a crude type of multiple time step approach, i that interactions involving atoms between the lower and upper cutoff distance remai constant and change only when the neighbour list is updated. Analytical Methods. Fluorite is readily identified by its crystal shape, usually simple cubes or interpenetrating twins, by its prominent octahedral cleavage, its relative softness, and the production of hydrogen fluoride when treated with sulfuric acid, evidenced by etching of glass. The provision of a separate oil cooler will reduce condenser load by the amount of heat lost to the oil and removed in the oil cooler. This is of special note with twin-screw compressors, where a high proportion of the compressor energy is taken away in the oil. This proportion varies with the exact method of oil cooling, and figures should be obtained from the compressor manufacturer for a particular application. [Pg.65]

The most satisfactory method for the organic farmer to reduce the risk of infection to lambs from internal parasites is to practise clean grazing, which reduces parasitic infection and increases lamb growth rate (Fig. 3.5). The most effective method of clean grazing is, as we have seen, to use a three year rotational system with sheep, followed by cattle, and then arable. This presupposes land that can be ploughed. On permanent pasture farms with no arable, beef and sheep should be alternated. To make this effective, it helps if there are as many beef livestock units as sheep.
