Tungsten reflectivity

The metal-alkyne bonding parameters of molecules of the type CpML-(RC=CR)X are similar to those of other classes of four-electron donor alkynes in Table I. Both cationic and neutral derivatives with cyclopen-tadienyl (Cp = t75-C5H5) or indenyl (tj5-C9H7) illustrate the structural regularities of these molecules. The preponderance of molybdenum derivatives relative to tungsten reflects more extensive and diverse synthetic chemistry with molybdenum to date. [Pg.30]

The potential of Fischer carbene complexes in the construction of complex structures from simple starting materials is nicely reflected in the next example. Thus, the reaction of alkenylcarbene complexes of chromium and tungsten with cyclopentanone and cyclohexanone enamines allows the di-astereo- and enantioselective synthesis of functionalised bicyclo[3.2.1]octane and bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane derivatives [12] (Scheme 44). The mechanism of this transformation is initiated by a 1,4-addition of the C -enamine to the alkenylcarbene complex. Further 1,2-addition of the of the newly formed enamine to the carbene carbon leads to a metalate intermediate which can... [Pg.90]

There are an estimated 800 plants in the U.S. involved in the primary or secondary recovery of nonferrous metals. These plants represent 61 subcategories. However, many of these subcategories are small, represented by only one or two plants, or do not discharge any wastewater. This chapter focuses on 296 facilities that produce the major nonferrous metals [aluminum, columbium (niobium), tantalum, copper, lead, silver, tungsten, and zinc]. The volume of wastewater discharged in this industry varies from 0 to 540 m3/T (0 to 160,000 gal/t) of metal produced.13 The global size of the industry is reflected in Table 3.1 (reported in 1000 USD) for the top 20 export countries for nonferrous base metal waste and scrap.4 Here T = metric ton = 1000 kg = 2204.6 lb, t = 2000 lb. [Pg.72]

The addition of carbide stabilizers to steel reduces the tendency toward internal Assuring. Elements such as chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium, titanium, and niobium reduce the number of nucleation sites by forming more stable alloy carbides which resist breakdown by hydrogen and, therefore, decrease the propensity to form methane.9 The solid-line curves in Figure 1 reflect the increased resistance to internal attack when molybdenum and chromium are present. [Pg.36]

The gold paint with which lamp-posts and other ornamental metalwork are decorated contains no gold, because of its prohibitive expense. The reflective gold-coloured substitute is sodium tungsten bronze, Nao.3W03. So why is NaojWOs reflective ... [Pg.462]

A further interesting confirmation that the spectra are characteristic of iodine is obtained from an experiment which we made with the 110 planes and an operating potential of 90,000 volts. Both the regular reflection of the line spectrum of the tungsten in the target and that of the secondary... [Pg.2]

In addition to the check in the value of duo this spectrum shows (1) that the characteristic iodine reflections are more intense than the tungsten lines and (2) that, whereas the a-peak is always higher than the /8-peak for the regular reflected target line spectrum, the reverse is true for radiation characteristic of elements in the crystal. In all such cases so far in vestigated the a-peak is always smaller than the /8. [Pg.3]
