Tungsten mixed-metal clusters

Reactivity studies of organic ligands with mixed-metal clusters have been utilized in an attempt to shed light on the fundamental steps that occur in heterogeneous catalysis (Table VIII), although the correspondence between cluster chemistry and surface-adsorbate interactions is often poor. While some of these studies have been mentioned in Section ll.D., it is useful to revisit them in the context of the catalytic process for which they are models. Carty et al. reported the reaction of the tungsten oxo acetylide complex [Cp W(0)2(CCPh)] with [Ru4(CO)i2-i3 /i3"PN(R)2 ] (R = PP or Cy) to give oxo-bridged mixed-metal clusters 193 and 194. A diisopropyl-aminophosphinoxo ligand has been found on 193, and is the first example of this kind. ...
