The Eirich miser granulator is a unique design commonly employed in ceramics and clay industries (Fig. 21-1616 ). Here both impeller blades and the chopper rotate on eccentrically mounted vertical shafts, while in addition the cylindrical bowl rotates. This provides a hybrid of mixer and tumbling granulation, and generally more spherical granules are produced than those achieved in other batch mixer processes.
