The unit formula of example 3 is listed in Table 7.14. The batch size manufactured was 10 kg. The API was preblended with Avicel PH101 using a Patterson-Kelly tumble bin blender equipped with an intensifier bar (0.5 ft3, Fig. 7.6) at 15 rpm with the intensifier bar speed of 2000 rpm for 15 min. The preblend was mixed with lactose, sodium starch glycolate and colloidal silicon dioxide in a 1 ft3 tumble... [Pg.198]

Relative motion can be induced, for example, as a pile is being formed, as particles tumble and slide down a chute. The result of sifting/percolation segregation is usually a side-to-side variation of particles. In the case of a bin, the smaller particles will generally be concentrated under the fill point, with the coarse particles concentrated at the outside of the pile (Fig. 4). [Pg.186]

In rotational moulding, thermoplastics are heated, shaped and cooled in the mould. Finely ground plastic powders are heated to melting and tumbled in a split, hollow mould. The inner surfeces of the mould are evenly coated with molten plastic due to centrifugal force and allowed to cool until hard. The final products are hollow with uniform thickness and relatively low moulding costs. Typical products include litter bins, traffic cones, fuel tanks and plastic balls. [Pg.81]
