Tubular construction

A specific example of this can be found in the evaluation of composites for heat exchanger applications.13 In this case, the heat exchanger design calls for a tubular construction which will be pressurized. Under these conditions, a flexural stress will be present in service, and consequently, a C-ring test specimen configuration provides a reasonable way to examine the properties of the composite. 

The nPET tubular constructs, whetho air-dried or exposed to efiianol followed by air-drying, had a consistent 4mm internal diameter throughout the lengfii (average ler -7.5cm).

The negative current collector is a perforated nickel-plated steel pocket plate assembly. The tubes are produced from perforated nickel-plated strips that are wound to produce a tube. The tubular construction has one end crimped and the active material is poured into the open end in layers with nickel flakes. Alternatively, a machine automatically introduces the active material and tamps it into the pockets. After filling, the tubes/pockets are crimped and pressed into openings in the nickel-plated steel electrode frame. A similar process is used for the positive electrode. 

The simplest form of a membrane cell or module is illustrated in Figure 1.2. Called a plate and frame, its dimensions are linear in the plane. Commercial applications, however, in the main, utilize tubular constructions.
