Trypanosomes are not resistant to nitrofurazone. Furaltadone is ineffective against infections with T. rhodensiense °. Both the 2-hydroxyethyl semicarbazone LXVIII) and the thioxazolidone (LXIX) derivatives of 5-nitrofural-dehyde have some activity in mice infected with trypanosoma .
