Trithioester transfer agent

This first pathway using a trithioester transfer agent afforded functionality close to 2. However, the final oligomer contains a trithioester group in the middle of the chain that is highly labile. A further polycondensation, which requires high temperature, with such oligomers, obtained by this technique, seems not to be favored.
