Alternate Name phenyl(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)acetylene phenylethynyl trifluoromethyl sulfone. 

Preparative Methods originally prepared by treatment of the lithium salt of phenylacetylene with trifluoromethanesulfonic (triflic) anhydride. The corresponding sodium acetylide provides the title compound in higher yield. Addition of the lithium salt to triflic anhydride (inverse addition) limits the production of unwanted by products. T)fpical isolated yields are 75%.
