Triazine compounds, vinyl derivatives

There are reactive softeners, some of which are N-methylol derivatives of long-chain fatty amides (10.241) while others are triazinyl compounds (10.242). The N-methylol compounds require baking with a latent acid catalyst to effect reaction, whereas dichloro-triazines require mildly alkaline fixation conditions. The N-methylol compounds are sometimes useful for combination with crease-resist, durable-press, soil-release and water-repellent finishes. In this context, the feasibility of using silane monomers such as methyltri-ethoxysilane (10.243), vinyltriethoxysilane (10.244), vinyl triace tylsilane (10.245) and epoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (10.246) in crosslinking reactions to give crease-resist properties and softness simultaneously has been investigated [492]. [Pg.264]

Triazines react also with electron-rich dienophiles such as ethyl vinyl ether (401 R = Et) or vinyl acetate (401 R = Ac) in boiling dioxane to yield the pyridine derivatives (376). After the usual [4 + 2] cycloaddition and nitrogen elimination from the bicyclic compound (402), the dihydropyridines (403) eliminate ethanol or acetic acid to give the aromatic pyridines (376). The dienophiles (401) can therefore be used as alkyne equivalents (69TL5171). [Pg.425]

In addition to alkenes or compounds with strained double bonds, 1,2,4-triazines react readily with electron-rich dienophiles such as enol ethers, enamines, enaminones, vinyl silyl ethers, vinyl sulfides, vinyl acetate, and ketene derivatives (see also Ilouben-Weyl, Vol. E7b, p 471 ff). It has been shown195,403,404 that oxo compounds and catalytic amounts of amines can be used instead of enamines however, water formed in the reaction can result in the formation of side products.403... [Pg.651]

Of the heterocyclic nitrogen-containing compounds, a-phenylindole is used to stabilize latex polymers and copolymers of vinyl chloride [99]. Melamine has foimd use for the stabilizing of suspension polymers, where a-phenylindole proves inactive [63]. Derivatives of morpholine [274], symmetrical triazine [275], pyrazole [276], as well as derivatives of imidazole, imidazoline, oxazole, oxazoline, thiazole, and thiazoline [277] are recommended in the patent literature for stabilization. [Pg.210]
